Royal team back in action for title today

Manama : Bahrain’s Royal Team will be in action at 9am (Bahrain time) today as they attempt to retain the title of the FEI World Endurance Championships for Juniors and Young Riders in Verona, Italy.

The team will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Fahad Helal Mohammed Al Khatri, who won the previous championship and clinching gold when riding Poly de coat Frity at the 2015 Championships in Santo Domingo, Chile.

Bahrain’s squad comprises defending champion Fahad Al Khatri, Ahmed Khalifa, Miqdad Mohammed Al Janahi, Rashid Al Rowaie, Salem Al Sabt and Dana Albenghadeer Al Doseri.

The race features 110 riders from 34 countries and comprises of four stages over 120-5km - beginning with stage one over 38km, stage two is 33km, the third stage is 27.5km and the concluding fourth stage over 22km.

Bahrain’s Royal Team captain HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee said, “Leading up to the tournament, as well as preparations for the team to run in the race and the technical plan to be applied, I am satisfied with the training that took place band have been briefed on the final stage of the exercises ahead of competition.” 

“The participation in the World Championship gives confidence to our team who look forward to trying to retain the title won in 2015. We have worked very hard with the riders on technical and administrative support  and wish them all the best against some of the best riders in this group from around the world,” Shaikh Nasser added. 

Team manager Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hassan, expressed his hope that the team does well through previous experience in similar events and use it to achieve good results against stiff opposition.
