Catering vogue for Eid festival

Though the day of Eid Al-Fitr has not been declared yet, the restaurants in the Kingdom have already begun preparations for the big day.
Since most of the small and medium scale restaurants do not fully remain open on Eid day, people are resorting to advance booking so that there wouldn’t be any shortage of food on the day of celebration.
Yusuf, owner of Al Haram Kitchen restaurant in Riffa, said that the booking for Eid meal had started long back. But now they are receiving vessels for the food. Since there is a long list of orders ahead of Eid, they also collect food vessels from the customers. The size of the vessel varies according to the quantity of food ordered by the customers.
He has been busy in collecting the food vessels and numbering them with a sketch pen according to the orders placed by the customers.
Yusuf said there are orders for food items like biriyani, mandi and machboos etc for Eid day. “But mutton goozi remained in high demand every year.”
On Eid day, they start cooking early in the morning. “The distribution of ordered food usually starts at 7.30am. We will remain very busy on the day of Eid since we have to cater to a huge number of people. Moreover, the customers place orders in huge quantities. Therefore, it is not possible to take orders at the last moment,” he said.
Yusuf said they would close the shop at 2pm on Eid day, after distributing all the orders. “We begin Eid celebration only after all the orders are cleared. We will resume work the next day,” he added.
