Aesthetic medicine in focus at Arabia Plast 2017

Manama : The Kingdom is ready to take on the growing need for plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine in the Middle-East as announced during the opening of the four-day Arabia Plast Conference at the Gulf Hotel here. Over 99 experts and world-famous doctors from 32 countries in the Middle East and North African regions were present at the event inaugurated by Ministry of Health Undersecretary Dr Aysha Buanq. “We must not ignore the advances in the fields of beauty and regeneration surgery. We must in fact support such events that highlight the importance of these fields in the spectrum of medical science and patient recovery,’’ Dr Aysha Buanq said. “Many Gulf nationals have been travelling across the world to conduct simple burn or hand surgeries. We are united and ready and it is important that all nations of these regions promote their highly talented doctors and medical professionals in order to ensure such treatment is conducted in the patients’ home-countries.” The conference cum exhibition is being held under the patronage of Lt. Gen. Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, from 9th to 12th of March at the Gulf Convention Centre, Gulf Hotel. Arabia Plast 2017 incorporates the 13th conference of the Pan Arab Association of Plastic Surgery, 9th Conference of the GCC Association of Plastic Surgeons and the 3rd Bahrain International Conference of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery. Other experts who spoke about the significance of such educational conferences for the Arab world included Professor Bishara Atiyeh from Lebanon, Professor Mohammed Kadri from Egypt and the conference’s President, Dr Tariq Saeed. Dr Saeed, who gave a talk on Plastic surgery said: “Plastic surgery has evolved into a powerful force, an art, a science and a profession that made a quantum leap into the 21st century. “I believe this conference will lead to the exchange of ideas and experiences among top-notch professionals of the Middle-East and South Africa region that are of paramount importance to Bahrain and the medical profession.” Yesterday, the registered delegates were briefed by world-renowned doctors and surgeons who shared their top tips and methods in the areas of body contouring and breast surgery. A detailed cleft lip and palate workshop was also held for interested individuals. The event’s exhibition showcased several brands that shed light on the important achievements and advances in aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, hair removal and other cosmetic and body care techniques. The Ministry of Health and RCSI sponsored event concluded with a presentation of Bahrain and the great medical facilities it provides.
