BIBF convention puts project management skills to test

Manama : Over 450 learners from various local and regional organisations have been put through their paces during a month long convention held here to brush up project management skills.  

The Bahrain International Project Management Convention (BIPMC) with workshops and practical competitions was organised by the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). 

The event also had Tamkeen as Strategic partner, Batelco as communication partner and the Capital Governorate as Social Responsibility partner. 

The main attraction of the event was a unique cycle assembling competition held to enhance the project management implementation skills of the participants

 Over 16 teams participated in the competition, in which Batelco emerged as the winner. Ithmaar Bank at second place and Saleco at third followed. The teams will donate their assembled bicycles to Al Sanabil Children’s Home.  

Winner were awarded with trophies at the closing ceremony of the convention held at Batelco Staff Centre in Hamala.

The donation, according to BIBF, is part of a corporate social responsibility approach that aims to take responsibility for the organisation’s effects on environmental and social wellbeing.

Commenting on the event, BIBF’s Head of the Operations, IT and Project Management and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Ahmed Naeemi, said, “With a total of 317 hours of training and we are proud to be part of this engagement with employees and students who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills within the Project Management field”. 

Commenting from his side, the lead trainer and instructor of the Bike Assembly, Osama Abdul Wahid, stated, “The bike assembly game is a win-win-win experiment as it achieves benefits on three levels. The first being it is a team simulation exercise testing team dynamics. Second, it is a fun project to execute project management concepts. Thirdly and most importantly, it has charitable cause which brings happiness to disadvantaged children”.  

Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Dr. Ebrahim Janahi and Batelco’s Muna Al Hashemi praised the initiative.
