Karzoon; first woman on Alba board

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) announced the appointment of Suha Karzoon on the board of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). The appointment makes Karzoon the first woman on Alba’s board since its establishment.

 Karzoon will be representing Mumtalakat at the board.She holds the role of Chief Financial Officer, where she is responsible for overseeing the Finance, Treasury and External Portfolio functions. She has over 17 years of experience in finance and accounting, audit, advisory and statutory reporting services. Karzoon’s industry exposure includes Financial Services, Insurance and the Public Sector.

Commenting on the appointment, Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji, Chief Executive Officer of Mumtalakat said: “We are pleased to have Suha join Alba as the first woman within its board members and we look forward to the positive contribution that she will add to the company.  We at Mumtalakat are committed towards gender parity and believe that women add a tremendous value in the workforce. Within Mumtalakat itself, women currently represent 40 per cent of the total workforce and 25 pc of the management team.”

 Karzoon is a Certified Public Accountant, and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Bahrain.
