China: “Root Causes Are Clear”

Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Fu Cong said at the council that China views the root causes as “clear,” alleging that the United States and Israel carried out strikes against Iran without Security Council authorization during ongoing negotiations, actions he said violate the UN Charter alongside United States, Israel, and Iran.
Fu also stressed the need to respect Gulf sovereignty and protect civilians and infrastructure, highlighting the importance of safeguarding maritime security and energy routes around the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring uninterrupted global shipping.
