On World Health Day 2026, the World Health Organization calls for global unity under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science,” highlighti n g t h e role of science and cooperation in protecting people, animals, plants, and the planet. The campaign also underscores the importance of prevention, strong health systems, and global teamwork in tackling health challenges.

In Bahrain, the message is echoed strongly across the health sector and academic institutions.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health said Bahrain’s health sector is highly competent and fully prepared to serve the country in all circumstances. He said the Kingdom continues to provide healthcare services at the highest standards, supported by strong national leadership and continuous development.

Efforts

He praised the efforts of doctors, nurses, and support staff, saying their dedication reflects true national responsibility, especially during challenging times. He also highlighted the importance of this year’s theme, stressing that “supporting science” means investing in research, innovation, and training national medical talent to further improve healthcare quality and sustainability.

At the academic level, Professor Dr. Mohammed Madadin, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Arabian Gulf University, stressed the importance of health awareness and collective action to protect community well-being. He highlighted the university’s role in promoting health education, preventive practices, and scientific thinking, noting that awareness begins with education and extends into daily life. He also emphasised rebuilding trust in science through community engagement, with students actively leading initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.

Voices

Together, these voices reflect a shared message in Bahrain: a strong health system, guided by science and supported by people, is the foundation of a safer and healthier future for all.
