Explaining Pakistan’s position, Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said Diplomatic space must be preserved for ongoing mediation efforts, which the UN Secretary-General and Security Council members have recognized.
Pakistan also pointed to a joint five-point initiative calling for an immediate ceasefire, protection of civilians and infrastructure, restoration of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and full adherence to the UN Charter.
