GCC Reviews Tourism Sector Resilience

Under the presidency of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Minister of Tourism chaired an extraordinary virtual meeting of GCC tourism ministers to assess the impact of recent regional developments on the tourism sector across member states.
The meeting was led by Bahrain’s Minister of Tourism, Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, and brought together ministers responsible for tourism across GCC countries to discuss the implications of recent attacks targeting security and stability in the region and their potential effects on tourism activity.
In her remarks, Al Sairafi stressed that convening the emergency meeting reflects the strong fraternal relations and continuous coordination among GCC states. She highlighted that the session embodies the principles of joint Gulf action in addressing emerging developments and shared challenges.
Cooperation
The Secretary-General of the GCC, Jasim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, also addressed the meeting, stating that GCC states have consistently demonstrated their ability to navigate crises effectively through deep cooperation and integration. He noted that this unified approach has helped maintain stability and ensure the continuity of vital sectors across the region.
During the session, ministers reviewed several agenda items, including the impact of current developments on tourism flows within GCC states, opportunities to enhance sector resilience and sustainability, and mechanisms to further strengthen joint initiatives.
