GCC dispute panel statute approved
Manama : The statute of the GCC sports dispute committee, an initiative of His Majesty the King representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, was confirmed yesterday.
Approval was declared at the 87th meeting of GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents’ Executive Office in Riyadh on Saturday.
Top representatives from the BOC, led by General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar, attended the meeting along with members from GCC national Olympic Committees.
Also in attendance was BOC board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, BOC Acting Sports Affairs Executive Director Abduljalil Asad, Sports Training and Development Centre director Nabeel Taha, Arabic and International Public Relations director Fajer Jassim and Arabic Public Relations head Mohammed Al Zayed.
Taha also made a presentation on another initiative by Shaikh Nasser on physical literacy in the GCC, an idea thats aims to promote a healthy life style for all segments of the community in the region.
The Executive Office also approved the vision of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, besides developing a committee for voluntary work in the field of sports.
UAE Olympic Committee general secretary Ahmed Al Kamali was assigned to follow up the proposal to include basketball at the first edition of the GCC Junior Games scheduled this year.
