Syria helped Kuwaiti MP to escape from Bahrain

Manama: The Syrian Government has facilitated the safe passage of the wanted Kuwaiti MP into the war-torn nation, according to sources. Sources confirmed that MP Abdulhamid Dashti was issued a Syrian passport on March 17, a few days after an international arrest warrant was issued against him as per the request of the Bahraini judicial authorities.

DT News received pho-tographs of the newly-issued passport for Dashti. The man apparently received his new Syrian identity to escape from Geneva, Switzerland, where he was residing when the arrest warrant was issued against him.

The controversial politician was sentenced in absentia to two years of imprisonment by a Bahraini court for illegal fundraising.

He posted on his personal social media pages that he “safely reached Syria and met with the Syrian President.”

Meanwhile, thousands of activists and political analysts in the Middle East have called for deterrent action against Dashti as he “betrayed the Arabian and Islamic nation by supporting sectarian militias that are fighting in Iraq, Syria and are destabilising security in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.
