GCC Housing Ministers Approve Guide for Digital Housing Finance
Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, chaired the 24th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Ministers of Housing Affairs, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain and attended by Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC.
Minister Al Rumaihi highlighted the importance of housing and urban planning in supporting social stability, improving quality of life and developing integrated and sustainable residential communities.
She noted that rapid developments in the housing sector, including modern technologies, innovative financing solutions and digital transformation, are creating new opportunities for GCC countries to improve services, enhance efficiency and sustainability, and provide citizens with more flexible housing options.
As part of the meeting, GCC member states approved a guide prepared by Bahrain on digital housing finance platforms for individuals. The guide reflects the shared commitment to using digital solutions to develop housing finance systems across the GCC.
Minister Al Rumaihi said the initiative strengthens joint efforts, supports the exchange of successful experiences and expands housing finance options available to citizens.
She also highlighted the importance of holding the meeting alongside the second edition of the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector 2026, describing it as an opportunity to exchange expertise, explore innovative solutions and strengthen cooperation in the housing sector.
The meeting also discussed housing policies and programmes, sustainable urban planning, legislation and guidance documents, partnerships with the private sector and financing institutions, digital transformation, and the exchange of expertise and information among GCC countries.
