Three jailed for life for smuggling heroin

Manama: The High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced three Pakistani men to life for attempting to smuggle heroin. They were also fined BD5000 each and were ordered to be deported after they complete their jail term.

The first defendant, aged 46, was arrested after he was found carrying 63 capsules weighing half-a-kilogram in his stomach upon his arrival at the Bahrain International Airport.

Airport officials are said to have intercepted him after spotting him with symptoms of extreme fatigue. The capsules were found inside his body after he was x-rayed.

Two of his accomplices were  nabbed in a sting operation after he turned them in.
