Teenager sentenced to 15 years for murder
A teenager accused of killing a Bahraini youth, in his early 20s, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars. The defendant, also Bahraini national, claimed earlier that he had stabbed the youth to death in his chest after the latter sprayed foam material on his face.
The pair engaged in a quarrel while a religious celebration was taking place, and according to the defendant’s statement it had begun with jokes.
“I filled my palm with flour and poured it on him after he had sprayed the foam. But he reacted aggressively,” the defendant told prosecutors earlier. “From my car I took a knife. Then I stabbed him,” he added. The defendant was with his friend at the time of the incident. The friend claimed that though he tried to stop him, he threatened to kill him also.
