Shura Council Earns ISO Certification

Secretariat achieves international recognition for workplace safety and health standards

The General Secretariat of the Shura Council has achieved the internationally recognised ISO 45001:2018 certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, after fulfilling all requirements of the global standard and implementing a comprehensive workplace safety management framework.

The certification recognises the Secretariat’s efforts in identifying and managing occupational risks, preventing workplace accidents and injuries, promoting safety awareness among employees, and adopting continuous improvement mechanisms to enhance workplace efficiency in line with international best practices.

The achievement reflects the General Secretariat’s commitment, under the directives of Shura Council Chairman His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and the follow-up of Secretary-General Karima Mohammed Al Abbasi, through the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, to establishing a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment.

The Secretariat said the certification supports its efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, promote a culture of prevention and risk management, and implement advanced administrative practices as part of its 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, which aims to improve the workplace environment and enhance quality and institutional excellence.

The ISO certification adds to a series of institutional achievements secured by the General Secretariat, including the Diamond Accreditation from the Ministry of Health’s “Healthy Lifestyle Promoting Workplaces” programme.

The Diamond Accreditation is the highest category awarded by the Ministry under the programme, recognising organisations that adopt healthy workplace concepts and practices. The Secretariat achieved the accreditation after meeting evaluation requirements across five key areas: healthy nutrition, physical activity, smoking prevention, mental health, and occupational health.
