Cooperation to drive innovation and smarter municipal services
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening cooperation with civil society organisations and specialised bodies to support innovation and enhance municipal and agricultural services.
The minister made these remarks during a meeting with the Chairperson of the Bahrain Smart Cities Association, Dr. Shaikha Fai bint Abdullah Al Khalifa, and association members. The meeting also included Municipal Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
At the start of the meeting, Al Mubarak congratulated Dr. Shaikha Fai on her appointment as Chairperson of the Bahrain Smart Cities Association's Board of Directors, wishing her and the newly elected board success in their roles.
The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including opportunities to strengthen cooperation in innovation, smart city applications and the use of advanced technologies to improve service efficiency and support Bahrain's sustainable development goals.
Dr. Shaikha Fai expressed appreciation for the minister's support and reaffirmed the association's commitment to building a strong partnership with the ministry. She said closer collaboration would help implement innovative initiatives, promote knowledge exchange and accelerate Bahrain's smart transformation efforts.
Historic municipal landmark showcased
On the sidelines of the meeting, the association's chairperson and board members toured the historic Manama Municipality building, known for its distinctive architectural heritage reflecting Bahrain's long municipal history.
They also visited the Municipal Exhibition, which documents the evolution of municipal work in the Kingdom and highlights key milestones, achievements and developments in the sector over the past decades.
