Man Finds Himself Registered for Job He Never Worked

A 25-year-old Bahraini has told the High Criminal Court that he discovered he had been registered as an employee at a private company without his knowledge after applying for unemployment benefits.

The alleged false registration reportedly prevented him from receiving unemployment assistance and affected his eligibility for his late father's pension, prompting him to file a BD2,000 compensation claim.

A 70-year-old company owner is currently on trial, accused of forging the man's signature on an employment contract and submitting it to the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) and the Ministry of Labour.

The defence maintains that the registration may have been the result of an administrative error rather than intentional forgery. The court has scheduled its verdict for August 11.
