Missile and Drone Strikes Target Civilian Sites

Bahrain strongly condemned repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks on vital civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom, calling them a direct threat to civilian lives and a clear violation of its sovereignty, international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said drone strikes hit civil aviation navigation equipment and overflight traffic systems within the Bahrain Flight Information Region (FIR). It warned that targeting critical navigation infrastructure endangers international civil aviation and breaches the Chicago Convention and ICAO rules.

The Ministry praised the Bahrain Defence Force's air defences for successfully intercepting the incoming strikes, affirming Bahrain's right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Bahrain renewed its call on the international community and UN Security Council to take decisive action to end Iranian aggression immediately. It demanded stronger enforcement to protect air and maritime navigation and insisted Iran be held fully accountable, legally and financially, under international law.

Flights unaffected, says CAA

Separately, the Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) confirmed that hostile drones targeted the FIR's civil air navigation systems but did not disrupt air navigation services. Authorities responded immediately under established security procedures to ensure continuity of operations.

The CAA said flights and overflights through Bahrain's airspace continue normally, with close coordination and monitoring ongoing alongside international aviation bodies and relevant authorities.
