Trump Warns Bombardier: Build in US or Lose Market Access

Washington: US President Donald Trump has threatened to prevent Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier from selling planes in the United States until it begins building aircraft on American soil.
Trump issued the ultimatum in a Truth Social post, criticising Canada of unfairly restricting US companies and stating that Bombardier must ‘build here’ if it wants access to the American market.
The action comes amid a growing trade war between the United States and Canada. Canada has began applying retaliatory tariffs on approximately $20 billion worth of US imports, escalating tensions between the two countries.
It's uncertain how Trump would enforce a sales prohibition. The US Federal Aviation Administration certifies Bombardier aircraft and continues to approve them for operation in the country.
Bombardier employs around 3,500 people in the United States and works with almost 2,800 American suppliers, with plans to expand its manufacturing and service operations in the country.
