Bahrain Council Hosts Second Edition of Hawar Circle on International Arbitration

Hawar Circle focuses on immunity, professional ethics and right of representation in international arbitration

The Council for International Dispute Resolution of the Kingdom of Bahrain is hosting the second edition of the Hawar Circle on the Hawar Islands from September 6 to 8, bringing together prominent arbitration practitioners from London, Brazil, Singapore, France, Nigeria and India.

The second edition builds on discussions launched during the inaugural Hawar Circle, which brought together 14 leading arbitration practitioners to review and develop core principles governing arbitration.

The initiative reflects Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and contributing to the development of future standards within the global arbitration community.

The gathering continues to examine and renew the foundational standards of arbitration, drawing inspiration from the Centenary Principles of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London.

Building on the discussions of the first edition, this year’s Hawar Circle is focusing on three key areas: immunity, professional ethics, and the right of representation in international arbitration.

Participants are examining practical challenges facing international arbitration, while exchanging experiences and strengthening professional cooperation to identify principles that can contribute to more effective dispute resolution.

The discussions will also support the continued development of the Hawar Principles, which were initiated during the inaugural edition and remain subject to a global review period ahead of their final adoption.
