Riyadh : At least 73 people were injured in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, with several energy-sector facilities in the kingdom’s southern region also targeted, Saudi authorities said.

The attacks struck civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, according to the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition is a military alliance formed in 2015 and led by Saudi Arabia to support Yemen’s internationally recognised government and fight the Houthi movement, which seized large parts of the country.

A Saudi Energy Ministry source said the latest attacks triggered fires at several energy facilities, temporarily disrupting some operations. Specialised teams were deployed to contain the fires, secure the sites and assess the damage.

The attacks also injured Saudi citizens and residents, with medical treatment being provided, the source said.

Authorities said they were continuing to deal with the aftermath and taking measures to protect facilities and workers while maintaining operations under approved plans.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said the coalition would take all necessary operational measures to counter the Houthis.
