Bahrain to Host Second Diabetes and Obesity Conference in October Under HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad’s Patronage

Bahrain will host the second Bahrain Diabetes and Obesity Conference (BDOC) on October 1-2, 2026, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The conference, organised in cooperation with Education Plus, will bring together leading local, regional and international experts to discuss the latest developments in diabetes and obesity management, prevention strategies and initiatives promoting healthier lifestyles.

Preparations for the event were marked by the signing of an agreement between the Bahrain Diabetes Society and Education Plus. The agreement was signed by Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) and Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Society, and Dr. Amin Abdullah, General Manager of Education Plus.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah said the conference reflects Bahrain’s commitment to addressing non-communicable diseases through scientific collaboration, public awareness initiatives and partnerships across the healthcare and academic sectors.

He noted that the event will support national efforts to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen preventive healthcare, particularly among young people.

Dr. Amin Abdullah said the success of the inaugural edition had paved the way for a stronger second conference, featuring enhanced scientific content and wider participation from experts and specialists from Bahrain, the region and beyond.
