Mediterranean Parliament Condemns Threats to Gulf Stability

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) has expressed solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states following Iranian attacks, as part of the final recommendations of the fourth Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The recommendation came in response to a call by Ahmed bin Salman Al Muslim, Speaker of the Bahrain Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, during the forum’s high-level opening session.

Al Muslim urged PAM to adopt a clear stance condemning attacks on the security of international navigation and rejecting attempts to pressure the international community through threats to close the Strait of Hormuz.

He stressed that threats against strategic maritime routes could create wider risks for other international waterways in the future.

The forum’s final statement highlighted deep solidarity with Gulf member states of PAM that were affected by Iranian attacks and pointed to the potential long-term geopolitical and economic consequences of any disruption to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Bahraini parliamentary delegation’s participation reflected the Kingdom’s active parliamentary diplomacy and its efforts to support international cooperation, address shared challenges, and contribute to global peace and security.

The Bahrain parliamentary delegation concluded its participation on Saturday in the fourth edition of PAM’s Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, held in Marrakech from June 19-20, 2026, with the participation of parliamentary leaders, delegations, experts and decision-makers from member states.
