As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Ambassador of Bahrain to Malaysia, Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, chaired a meeting with GCC ambassadors in Malaysia and senior members of the Malaysian Parliament.
The delegation met with Wong Chen, Chair of the Special Select Committee on International Relations and International Trade, his deputy Wee Jeck Seng, and several committee members.
Speaking on behalf of the GCC ambassadors, Dr. Al Manea condemned recent Iranian attacks against Bahrain and other GCC states, describing them as a clear violation of national sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. He also stressed that Iran’s actions affecting the Strait of Hormuz go beyond regional concerns, directly impacting global maritime navigation, energy market stability, supply chains, fuel and food prices, and shipping insurance costs.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the GCC, Malaysia, and Association of Southeast Asian Nations in key areas including energy security, maritime safety, supply chain resilience, food security, investment, and Islamic finance. Both sides also discussed supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and promoting regional and global stability.
