Sports Clubs Face KPI-Linked Funding
Parliament is set to debate proposals to tighten governance in sports clubs and federations, linking funding to performance while preserving their independence.
A committee report recommends clearer accountability, measurable targets and improved training for board members to raise standards across the sector. It also backs drafting a new sports law to replace the current framework, which officials say is outdated and too broad.
The General Sports Authority said it is preparing a governance charter and new rules, including performance-based funding and stricter oversight of private sports academies.
Clubs and federations have broadly supported the move, calling for transparent reporting, annual assessments and stronger financial controls, while urging a gradual rollout to help smaller organisations adapt.
Lawmakers are expected to review the proposal in the coming sessions.
