Bahrain Official Participates in ICCA Congress in Madrid
Marike Patrani Paulsson, Secretary-General of the Council for International Dispute Resolution of the Bahrain, participated in the ICCA Congress held in Madrid.
She took part in a panel titled “The Promise of Diversity,” which explored the role of diversity and broader representation in shaping the future of international arbitration and decision-making.
During the session, Professor Paulsson presented key principles from her paper on diversity in arbitration, highlighting the importance of clearly defining diversity, linking it to excellence, expanding arbitral representation, and investing in capacity building. She also stressed the need to move beyond symbolic measures toward meaningful inclusion.
She further underscored the importance of institutional transparency, embracing cultural differences, and empowering new voices, noting that diversity should remain practical and people-focused.
Her participation reflects Bahrain’s ongoing engagement in global discussions on inclusion, institutional development, and the future of international arbitration.
