ABU DHABI: The Arabian Travel Market, Dubai’s premier annual tourism event, has been officially postponed from its original May dates to August 2026. Organiser Reed Exhibitions (RX) announced that the 33rd edition of the gathering, originally scheduled for May 4 to 7 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will now take place from August 17 to 20.
The decision was made to prioritize the safety and well-being of participants and to provide greater confidence and flexibility for the global travel community. Danielle Curtis, the exhibition’s director for the Middle East, emphasized this commitment to security by stating, “The safety and well-being of our customers, partners and colleagues remains our highest priority.”
The postponement is considered unusual for a flagship event of this scale, as the Arabian Travel Market serves as a critical marketplace for airlines, hotel groups, and travel technology firms to negotiate year-long partnerships. Industry analysts note that moving such a major event disrupts the established rhythm of the entire sector.
Moving the event to August places it in Dubai’s peak summer, a period of extreme heat and lower visitor numbers that could impact international attendance. While this shift disrupts companies that had already aligned marketing and product launches with the original May timeline, acting months in advance is a calculated effort to avoid the risk of a last-minute cancellation and preserve long-term exhibitor confidence.
Despite the lack of a detailed explanation, the postponement reflects a broader caution within a sector sensitive to global uncertainty. Industry observers note that such a significant adjustment raises questions about shifting conditions in the wider travel environment. The successful execution of the event in August will test the industry’s resilience and its ability to maintain momentum in an increasingly unpredictable landscape.
