Bahrain and Jordan Leaders Hold High-Level Talks on Regional Developments

 

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,held a meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during the Jordanian monarch’s visit to Bahrain.

The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister; His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of the King; His Highness Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and National Security Adviser; along with several ministers.

King Hamad welcomed King Abdullah II and expressed appreciation for his visit to Bahrain. The two leaders discussed the latest regional developments and their impact on security and stability in the region. They also addressed ongoing Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region, describing them as violations of national sovereignty and international law, and a threat to international peace and security.

In this context, King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s solidarity with Bahrain in the measures it takes to defend its sovereignty, security, stability, and the safety of its citizens. King Hamad also reiterated Bahrain’s solidarity with Jordan in facing attacks targeting its sovereignty and security.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which strongly condemned the attacks and called for an immediate and unconditional halt to all hostilities and provocations against Gulf countries and Jordan.

They further highlighted the critical importance of stopping threats to disrupt freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international route for global oil supplies and trade. The leaders stressed that protecting maritime routes is a shared international responsibility requiring cooperation at regional and global levels.

The two monarchs also reviewed the strong fraternal relations between Bahrain and Jordan and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation, coordination, and joint action across various fields in line with the aspirations of both countries and their peoples.

At the conclusion of the visit, King Hamad led the officials in bidding farewell to King Abdullah II upon his departure from Bahrain, following discussions that covered bilateral cooperation and regional developments.
