Home repair grant to double to BD20,000 under MP plan

A proposal to double Bahrain’s home repair grant to BD20,000 will go before Parliament on Tuesday, aiming to help low-income families carry out essential repairs amid rising building costs.
Submitted by MP Mohammed Mousa, the plan seeks to enhance the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture’s home restoration scheme, which currently provides BD10,000 to eligible citizens earning less than BD600 a month. The increase is intended to better reflect inflation and higher material costs, improve the condition of older homes, and reduce health and structural risks.
