BIS Hosts Parent Orientation on CBSE Updates for Grade IX

Bhavans Bahrain Indian School (BIS) organised an insightful and engaging Parent Orientation Programme for Grade IX, providing parents with a comprehensive understanding of the latest academic updates, curricular changes and emerging learning opportunities introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The programme reflected the school’s unwavering commitment to keeping parents informed, empowered, and actively involved in their children’s academic journey.

The programme commenced with a warm formal welcome, followed by an informative address by Principal Mr Saji Jacob, who elucidated the significant changes introduced by the CBSE for the current academic sessions. He particularly highlighted the implementation of the Third Language, along with the evolving provisions concerning the choice of Advanced Mathematics and Advanced Science, enabling students to opt for either or both advanced subjects in accordance with their academic interests, abilities and aspirations.

The Principal also familiarised parents with Kaushal Bodh and Kaushal Vikas, significant components of skill-based learning that emphasise the development of practical competencies alongside academic knowledge. He further apprised the gathering of Individuals and Societies, an upcoming subject introduction aimed at broadening students’ understanding of society, communities, and the world around them.

Reassuring parents about the smooth implementation of these new provisions, Principal Mr Saji Jacob highlighted that BIS has consistently provided students with exposure to three languages from Grades 5 to 8. Therefore, the transition to the Third Language at Grade 9 would be a natural progression rather than a daunting challenge for BIS learners. The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents, whose queries and concerns regarding the new academic provisions were addressed with clarity. The orientation was followed by meaningful teacher-parent interactions, providing parents with an opportunity to discuss their wards’ academic progress, individual learning needs, and overall development.
