The Court of Cassation has upheld rulings issued by both the First Instance and Appeals Courts, sentencing an accountant to five years in prison and ordering him to repay BD41,770.795 to his employer — the Gulf Aviation Academy — in addition to an equal fine.

The court also referred the civil claim to the competent civil court for further proceedings.

According to case details, the 36-year-old defendant, who served as Senior Accountant and Acting Head of Finance and Accounts at the Gulf Aviation Academy between January 2021 and April 2022, was found guilty of embezzling BD54,121.

He reportedly diverted funds for his own benefit instead of depositing them into the academy’s official accounts.
