The Embassy of India in Bahrain successfully organized an Open House, chaired by His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob. The event saw the active participation of over 25 Indian nationals. The Embassy’s dedicated Community Welfare team, along with the Consular team and panel lawyers, were present to directly address the concerns of the community members. The session was conducted in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and Tamil, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

Ambassador Jacob commenced the proceedings by administering the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge, a powerful reaffirmation of the community's commitment to national unity and integrity. During his remarks, the Ambassador specifically urged community members to prioritize checking the validity of their passports and ensuring their timely renewal to prevent any logistical complications or inconvenience.

The Embassy reported significant progress in resolving issues, noting that most of the cases raised during the previous Open House had been successfully resolved. The institution continues its crucial work supporting housemaids and distressed Indian nationals. This support includes providing essential boarding and lodging, issuing Emergency Certificates, arranging air tickets, and offering assistance for the transportation of mortal remains, all funded through the Government of India’s Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) on a means-tested basis.

Ambassador Jacob extended his sincere gratitude to the Government of Bahrain authorities, including the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), and the Immigration authorities, for their swift support and prompt action on all Consular and Community Welfare matters. He also acknowledged the indispensable collaboration of the Indian community and various organizations in assisting the Embassy with its diverse activities. The session proved to be a highly productive interactive meeting, with grievances and issues raised by the Indian community being successfully addressed. Several matters were resolved immediately during the Open House, while the remaining issues are scheduled to be taken up at the earliest possible opportunity.
