Verdict set in drug money trial

Bahrain’s First High Criminal Court has scheduled October 14 to deliver its verdict in the trial of a 26-year-old Asian man accused of laundering over BD38,000 (approximately $100,000) in proceeds from drug sales through cryptocurrency transactions.
Investigators allege the defendant was part of an international drug trafficking network, tasked with receiving sales revenue and concealing its origins through various financial channels.
Authorities say he transferred the funds via exchange companies, ATM withdrawals, and bank deposits, before converting them into digital currencies that were later sold through an unwitting intermediary.
The man was charged with money laundering in 2024.
