Bahrain Expands Intensive Care Services at Salmaniya Medical Complex
Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, inaugurated a new intensive care unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex, serving as an extension of the existing main unit. The project aims to increase the capacity of intensive care beds and rooms while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed emphasized that the opening of the new unit reflects the Kingdom’s continuous efforts to enhance healthcare services and strengthen the capabilities of Salmaniya Medical Complex in line with national strategies to improve the quality of medical care. He added that the initiative forms part of an integrated plan to expand critical care services and upgrade the hospital’s infrastructure, meeting the growing needs of patients and supporting Bahrain’s vision for a sustainable healthcare future.
Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, expressed her pride in the achievement, noting that the new unit represents a significant addition to Bahrain’s healthcare system. She highlighted that the expansion will boost the readiness of government hospitals to handle critical cases in accordance with international medical standards. She further confirmed that work is underway to continue increasing intensive care capacity to meet patient needs and keep pace with global medical advancements.
The project underscores the commitment of the Supreme Council of Health and government hospitals to advancing Bahrain’s healthcare sector by delivering high-quality services aligned with best international practices.
