The Indian Embassy in Bahrain has turned the spotlight on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, inaugurating tourism and ODOP (One District One Product) walls that showcase both cultural richness and commercial promise. The launch was led by Ambassador of India His Excellency Vinod K. Jacob in the presence of the Telugu community, with the event drawing pride and participation from across Bahrain.

The new displays, installed in the Consular Hall, highlight touristic destinations and ODOP items identified from the two states. The gathering was also joined by Honorable Member of Parliament Dr. Bhim Singh, who is on an official visit to Bahrain, adding weight to the event’s diplomatic significance.

Bridge of states

The initiative forms part of the Embassy’s ‘Focus State/Union Territory’ series, under which tourism and ODOP products from one Indian state or territory are promoted in Bahrain for two months. Previous features have included Rajasthan, Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Jharkhand, reflecting the wide spectrum of India’s diversity.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, two southern states sharing a common cultural heritage, have been chosen for this round. Andhra Pradesh, known for its fertile agriculture, also hosts a growing IT and industrial base, especially in Visakhapatnam, alongside renowned heritage sites such as Tirupati, one of the world’s busiest pilgrimage centres.

Tech and tradition

Telangana, a youthful and diverse state, is positioned as a leading IT and business hub. Hyderabad, its capital, is home to global technology giants including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, reinforcing its status as an international destination for industry and innovation.

Together, the two states embody both tradition and technology, underlining the dynamism that drives India’s growth. MP Singh highlighted that the Embassy’s initiative vividly demonstrates India’s unity in diversity, while noting that India, now the world’s fourth largest economy, draws active contributions from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Cultural connection

Speaking in Telugu, Ambassador Jacob said the focus on these two states will give Indians in Bahrain, as well as Bahraini friends of India, the chance to appreciate their beauty and explore prospects for business links.

The launch concluded with a cultural performance and a spread of Telugu cuisine organised by the Telugu Kala Samithi, reflecting how the diaspora community remains central to promoting India’s heritage abroad.
