Food and clothing pull Bahrain CPI down 0.4% in July

Bahrain’s consumer prices fell by 0.4% in July 2025 from June, according to the Information & eGovernment Authority, with cheaper food and clothing offsetting higher household energy costs.
Food and non-alcoholic drinks were down 0.9%. Fruit slipped 3.8% and vegetables and pulses 3.2%. Bread and cereals fell 2.1%, meat 1.6%, and milk, cheese and eggs 1.4%. Fish and seafood rose 0.9%. Within drinks, the group gained 1.2% as tea, coffee and cocoa climbed 4.1%, while mineral water, soft drinks and juices eased 0.8%.
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were flat overall at 0.0%. Electricity, gas and other fuels increased 4.0%. Paid and imputed rents edged down 0.2%.
Clothing and footwear posted a 5.5% fall, led by footwear down 10.1% and clothing down 4.7%.
Transport inched up 0.2%. Transport services dipped 0.3%, while purchases of personal transport equipment rose 0.3%.
Communications added 0.3%, driven by a 2.3% rise in telephone and telefax equipment. Services in this category were unchanged.
Recreation and culture declined 0.4%. Audio-visual, photographic and information-processing equipment fell 1.7% and other recreational and cultural durables 2.1%. Pet equipment and garden items increased 1.3%, and cultural and recreational services were up 0.5%.
Restaurants and hotels dropped 1.5%. Accommodation services were down 9.9%, while restaurant services were stable.
Miscellaneous goods and services rose 0.6%, lifted by personal care up 1.6%. Personal effects such as luggage fell 1.0%.
