Sixteen people, including 10 Jordanians, were killed and 28 others injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Dahab-Nuweiba road in Egypt’s South Sinai Governorate.

Egypt’s Ministry of Health said the accident occurred on Wednesday morning and that 20 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide first aid and transport the injured to hospitals.

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar monitored the response to the accident, while ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that 16 people had died and 28 were injured.

Jordan’s official Al-Mamlaka channel later reported that 10 of those killed were Jordanian nationals. The bus was reportedly carrying 43 people, including 22 Jordanians.

The crash occurred in a tourist area known for its natural landscapes and mountain trails.

Egypt recorded nearly 6,000 road deaths last year, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
