EU and NATO promise stronger response to Russia after Leipzig incident

Brussels: The EU and NATO have agreed to put further pressure on Russia after Germany blamed Russia for a failed drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the incident as a "new escalation" on EU land, while NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte voiced complete solidarity with Germany.
The drone, which was carrying explosives, was spotted near a Ukrainian cargo plane at the airport in August. Germany claims investigations and intelligence results indicate to Russian involvement, but Moscow has denied the allegations.
Von der Leyen stated that the EU and NATO would not just maintain but raise pressure on Moscow, including further sanctions and stricter enforcement of existing measures. EU foreign ministers are also debating more restrictions on Russia.
