The Kingdom of Bahrain has strongly condemned renewed Iranian aggression targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with missiles and drones.

In a statement issued on September 2, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a flagrant violation of state sovereignty, a direct threat to civilian lives and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

The Ministry said the attacks contravene international law, the Charter of the United Nations and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with the targeted states and supported their right to take legitimate measures to defend their sovereignty, security and stability and protect citizens and residents, in accordance with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The Ministry also praised the vigilance and effectiveness of the Bahrain Defence Force, along with the armed forces and air defence systems of the affected countries, in confronting the attacks and protecting civilians.

Bahrain further called on the UN Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities by taking decisive and deterrent measures to compel Iran to immediately and completely halt its aggressive actions and repeated violations of state sovereignty and good-neighbourly principles.

The Ministry also urged measures to ensure the safety of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and other waterways and to hold Iran fully accountable under international law and the UN Charter.

Bahrain said such steps are essential to reducing tensions and strengthening regional security, stability and peace.
