A young Saudi student lost his life after being stabbed in a park south of Cambridge on Friday night, police confirmed.

The victim, Mohammed Yousef Al Qassim, was walking back to his residence around 11:30 p.m. when he was attacked. He sustained a fatal neck injury and died at the scene. Al Qassim was studying at a local language institute.

EF International Language School in Cambridge, where he was enrolled, expressed its condolences over the tragedy. “We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our students sustained fatal injuries on Friday evening,” the school said, adding that it is working closely with police and offering support to students and staff.

Cambridgeshire Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 50, on suspicion of involvement in the attack. Both remain in custody as detectives continue to investigate the motive behind the assault.

Authorities have described the investigation as being in its early stages and have urged witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.
