The court has sentenced a man to two separate jail terms after he was caught driving the wrong way on a public road, resulting in a serious accident and disrupting traffic.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said the Seventh Minor Criminal Court handed down two verdicts today. In the first case, the man was sentenced to two years in prison for driving against the flow of traffic, which led to injuring a person and damaging private property. The court also revoked his driver’s license for one year—to take effect after he serves his jail term—and ordered the confiscation of the vehicle used in the incident.

In a second ruling related to the same incident, the court sentenced him to an additional six months in prison.

The case came to light after a video of the incident circulated on social media, showing the dangerous driving. In the footage, the man can be seen recklessly driving against traffic while chasing another vehicle, putting his own life and the lives of others at risk.

The Public Prosecution conducted a swift investigation and referred the suspect—already in custody—to court, which issued today’s judgments.

Authorities urged all motorists to abide by traffic laws, emphasizing that reckless behavior on the roads will not be tolerated and will be met with strict legal action.
