SPAC to represent Asianet channel in the Kingdom

Strategic Publicity and Advertising Co.WLL (SPAC), an energetic and dynamic media company, that believes in infinite possibilities in media innovations, is emerging strong in the Middle East with the latest franchising of Asianet in Bahrain.

Asianet is an Indian entertainment channel broadcasting in Malayalam language. Based in Trivandrum, Kerala, the channel is part of Asianet Communications Limited owned by STAR India, an Indian media and entertainment company, owned by 21st Century Fox.

Asianet reaches the homes of Malayalees in over 60 countries worldwide, including the Indian sub-continent, China, South East Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA and the lower half of the former Soviet Union.

SPAC Group will represent Asianet in Bahrain. The launch of the Asianet programmes from Bahrain was inaugurated by Indian film actor Jayaram during the Jayaram Show 2015 here in the presence of SPAC Chairman P. Unnikrishnan, DT News Chief Editor Soman Baby, Bindu Ganesh Kumar, Business Head, STAR  Group Middle East, Joseph Francis, Sales Head Asianet Radio and Asianet News, Sooraj Kumar, Sales Head GCC, and  representatives of Asianet

Asianet was the first privately owned television channel in Malayalam and the second to broadcast in the language. SPAC made history in Bahrain by establishing the first private Radio Station in the Kingdom that enjoyed the support and love of thousands.

SPAC went on to introduce DT News, a youth oriented English daily newspaper, 4PM News, the first evening Malayalam newspaper from Middle East and Weekender, a weekly that provides solution to readers’ uneventful weekend.

BigFace, which is an innovative venture under SPAC will be managing the programmes for Asianet news. From January onwards, Asianet will be telecasting a programme titled “7th Day” which covers all the events and special segments from Bahrain.

SPAC group is representing Asianet in Bahrain after a gap of a few years. It was in 2005 that Asianet strengthened   its operations in Bahrain with the cooperation of SPAC. At that time, Asianet featured  a weekly 30-minute programme focusing on the activities of the Indian community in the Kingdom, and another 45-minute slot on the programmes organised by Indian clubs and organisations.

Besides its large viewership base among Malayalam-speaking people in Kerala and other regions of India, Asianet enjoys huge popularity among Malayalee expatriate populations outside India, especially in the Middle East.

Further catering to the region’s huge Malayalee population, Asianet operates a radio station “Asianet Radio 657 AM & 1269 AM” from the city of Dubai in the UAE. The radio channel is also available in the neighbouring countries like Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

In 2013, STAR announced buying of remaining shares of Asianet Communications Limited to get 100 per cent ownership. In July 2012, Asianet launched Asianet Movies, the first Malayalam satellite TV channel for movies.  In August 13, 2015, Asianet launched Asianet HD, the first Malayalam satellite TV channel for full high definition visual quality and Dolby 5.1 sound quality.
