His Majesty King Hamad Receives Parliamentary Leaders, Commends Legislative Contributions

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, at Sakhir Palace. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Speakers and members of the royal speech response committee from both councils.
During the meeting, the legislative leaders presented His Majesty with the official response of both councils to the royal speech delivered at the opening of the third session of the sixth legislative term. His Majesty expressed appreciation for the councils’ dedication in advancing Bahrain’s democratic process and praised their efforts in shaping the Kingdom’s legislative framework.
His Majesty commended the role of the legislative authority in supporting national development plans and strengthening Bahrain’s global standing in parliamentary forums. He acknowledged the constructive proposals outlined in the councils’ response, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between the executive and legislative branches to achieve further progress and prosperity for the nation.
His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to its comprehensive development journey, highlighting the values of unity, security, and coexistence as cornerstones of national progress. He emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to tolerance and openness, reinforcing its position as a model of stability in the region.
Council of Representatives’ Response
The Council of Representatives expressed appreciation for the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The council praised the government’s efficiency in implementing initiatives that enhance public services, drive innovation, and develop human resources.
In its response, the council underscored the importance of aligning legislative efforts with citizens’ aspirations, particularly in key areas such as housing, healthcare, education, infrastructure, employment, and regulatory oversight. The council highlighted the achievements of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and reiterated its commitment to advancing economic legislation that supports national priorities and government-led initiatives.
The council also welcomed His Majesty’s directive to accelerate preparations for the 2050 version of Bahrain’s Economic Vision. Additionally, it proposed the establishment of a specialised national centre dedicated to preserving and promoting national identity, balancing cultural heritage with modernization and security considerations.
Further, the council affirmed its support for initiatives aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s food security, including the development of agricultural, fisheries, and livestock sectors. It emphasized the need for legislative measures to facilitate technological advancements, artificial intelligence adoption, and scientific research.
Acknowledging Bahrain’s achievements in sports, the council praised the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in advancing the sector. The council pledged to enact legislation that supports the Kingdom’s continued success in global sporting events.
On regional and international affairs, the council reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to Arab and Islamic solidarity. It highlighted the Bahrain Declaration, issued at the conclusion of the Arab League council meeting, as a testament to the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts in supporting regional stability. The council also reiterated support for His Majesty’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and renewed Bahrain’s call for an expanded peace conference to restore hope for lasting regional stability.
Shura Council’s Response
The Shura Council echoed its support for the government team under HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, commending its dedication to public service and adherence to best administrative practices. The council pledged to continue working towards the goals outlined in Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and emphasized the importance of legislative collaboration in achieving national economic milestones.
The council welcomed His Majesty’s directive for a comprehensive study on enhancing Bahrain’s national identity, ensuring a balance between openness and national values. Additionally, the council affirmed its commitment to legislative efforts that accelerate Bahrain’s 2050 Economic Vision and enhance the Kingdom’s global competitiveness.
In the domain of technological advancement, the council noted its leadership in passing a draft law on artificial intelligence, positioning Bahrain as a pioneering nation in AI legislation within the Arab world. It also commended His Majesty’s vision in expanding AI programs and fostering innovation in knowledge-based sectors.
The Shura Council expressed gratitude for His Majesty’s appreciation of military and civil personnel, acknowledging their role in maintaining national security. The council also praised Bahrain’s achievements in sports, particularly its historic performance in the Olympics, and extended congratulations to HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid for their leadership in the sector.
