BD300 million eSuccess

The monetary value of financial transactions completed via eGovernment channels has now risen to over BD300 million, according to IGA. The use of eGovernment services is becoming more popular year after the year, according to an analysis done by the eGovernment authority.

Information and eGovernment Authority Chief Executive Mohammed Al Qaed revealed this to Tribune on the sidelines of the International eGovernment Forum 2018 which was held yesterday.

The event was organised by the IGA and was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain. “There has been a 72 percent increase in the payments when compared to last year and also over 200pc increase in the mobile app usage. “The volume of e-payment is increasing year by year. We have also noted a kiosk usage that is now multiplied four times after its reintroduction.”

“Two strategies have been implemented since 2007, they both have been very successful. Statistics and numbers behind it prove the success of this programme despite the challenges that we have faced.” “We have a lot of government services being launched today as well and many of them that is going to be launched soon.”

“One of the most significant accomplishments within the eGovernment Programme is maintaining at least 90pc of the national strategic goals and exceeding the value of financial transactions completed via the eGovernment.
