Bahrain, U.S. Sign Landmark Critical Minerals Cooperation Framework
His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today at the Ministry headquarters, Her Excellency Alison Hooker, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, on the occasion of her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the political consultations between the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the historic friendship and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, and discussed joint efforts to enhance cooperation across various fields of mutual interest. The discussions were framed within existing bilateral agreements, including the Comprehensive Security and Prosperity Integration Agreement (C-SIPA), to meet the shared aspirations and interests of the two countries and their peoples.
The officials also exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. This included discussions on the establishment of the “Board of Peace,” chaired by President Donald Trump of the United States, aimed at implementing the peace and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, the meeting explored ways to strengthen coordination and collaboration on regional and international matters under the United Nations Security Council, during Bahrain’s tenure as a member in 2026–2027, supporting efforts to maintain international peace and security.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs signed a framework for cooperation on critical minerals, designed to secure global supply chains for these vital resources. The framework focuses on collaboration in mining, processing, refining, investment, and policy coordination to support transparent and stable supply chains.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation; Her Excellency Ambassador Stephanie Hallett, U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain; and Mr. Salman Hassan Al Jalahma, Head of the Americas Affairs Sector at the Ministry.
