Man kills girlfriend for drugs
Manama : A Bahraini man allegedly murdered his girlfriend on account of a dispute over drugs. The duo reportedly used to consume drugs together.
“I asked her (girlfriend) to bring BD2,800 of shabu from one of her friends, who was a drug dealer. We went to bring the drugs, but her friend asked me for the money first,” the defendant said.
“I told her I would examine the drugs before giving her the money, but she declined my request,” he added.
The defendant’s girlfriend as well as the peddler fled from the scene as soon as he handed over the money to her. He got angry and returned home.
“My girlfriend then returned with one gram of shabu after a few hours. She was supposed to bring 30 grams as per the agreement. I slapped her twice and she fell down, motionless,” he stated.
However, the defendant is believed to have beaten up the woman with a plank. His mother confirmed hearing screams from his room before the woman was found dead. “I hid in my little girl’s room after I heard the screams. I was afraid that he would come and attack us,” his mother told prosecutors.
The man was detained for 30 days, pending investigations.
