Abbas Congratulates New OIC Secretary-General
President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, has congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on assuming his new post as Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In a written message, Abbas expressed confidence in the Secretary-General’s political and diplomatic experience and leadership abilities, saying they would help guide the OIC towards further development and progress.
The Palestinian President reaffirmed Palestine’s commitment to working closely with the OIC General Secretariat and supporting its efforts to serve the causes of the Islamic Ummah, particularly the Palestinian cause.
Abbas also stressed the importance of strengthening joint Islamic action in a way that serves the aspirations and protects the interests of Islamic peoples.
“We are committed to working closely with the OIC,” Abbas said.
