Lakhisarai: At least seven devotees died and more than a dozen injured in a hysterical incident at the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday morning. The accident occurred between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m., as people assembled at the Shiva temple to offer prayers on the third Monday of the holy Shravan month.

Officials say the gathering grew rapidly when two trains arrived at the same moment. A collapsing electric pole and tales of a live wire reportedly sparked fear, forcing devotees to rush and a barricade to collapse under the strain. Authorities emphasised that the exact cause is still under investigation.

Rescue crews and police were deployed to the temple, and the injured were transported to adjacent government hospitals for treatment. Bihar authorities have expressed condolences to the victims’ families and ordered further investigation into the incident.
