‘Sit down!’ Dog causes chaos during Australian politician’s live TV interview

Sydney: Australian politician Barnaby Joyce's live television interview took an unexpected turn when he suddenly shouted, ‘Sit down!’ at his dog while being questioned on a number of controversial political matters.

Joyce, former deputy PM and One Nation MP, was speaking on ABC's 7.30 when the dog interrupted the conversation. He temporarily turned away from journalist Sarah Ferguson and strongly commanded the animal to sit down before apologising and explained that he was speaking to his dog.

The unusual interruption occurred during a heated debate over One Nation leader Pauline Hanson's meeting with far-right British activist Tommy Robinson, immigration, and Hanson's controversial remarks about Muslim communities.

The dog interrupted once more when Ferguson asked Joyce if he was comfortable with Hanson's direction for the party. Joyce responded, ‘Don't be rude,’ and warned that the interview might come to a ‘grinding halt’ when the journalist instructed him to ignore the animal and react to the question.

The politician's firm order to his dog became the most widely discussed moment from a normally politically tense interview after the unexpected interaction swiftly went viral online.
