Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 15 years for New York sexual assault

New York: Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was convicted of up to 15 years in prison by a New York judge on Wednesday for sexually assaulting former production assistant in his Manhattan apartment in 2006. He was also sentenced to five years' post-release supervision.
The verdict follows Weinstein's retrial in 2025 on a first-degree criminal sexual act charge. His original 2020 fresh York conviction and 23-year sentence were overturned by the state's highest court in 2024, who ordered a fresh trial.
At the sentencing hearing, the survivor revealed the long-term consequences of the assault, while Weinstein apologized for her anguish but maintained his innocence. He is also facing legal proceedings stemming from a second California rape conviction.
